Princess Kate's uncle admits Harry 'will come back and be part of the gang again one day'

Gary Goldsmith, the uncle of the Princess of Wales, has said that Prince Harry will eventually make a royal return one day and be “a part of the gang again”.

The 58-year-old businessman, who is the younger brother of Carole Middleton, said that he believed Harry was “really, really, really loved” – although not specifying whether he meant in the UK or by the royals themselves.

Gary entered the Celebrity Big Brother house on Monday evening – a surprise to many royal fans. Speaking to fellow housemates Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh, Gary said: “I have an opinion that Harry was really, really, really loved and when they were a threesome so Kate, William and Harry they looked really comfortable together.”

Discussing the inclusion of Harry’s wife Meghan Markle, he added: “…and then suddenly there’s an extra dynamic that comes in, puts a stick in the spokes and creates so much drama that I don’t genuinely think is there, and rewrote the history, saying how unhappy he was and I just don’t think that’s fair.”

Gary added: “I mean you can’t throw your family under the bus in such a dramatic style, then write books about it and expect to be invited round for Christmas.

“I think its really sad. At some point I think he is going to come back and be a part of the gang again. He might need to. We are a very forgiving nation, it would be nice if he did.”

Gary has enjoyed a close relationship with his niece over the years, with Kate even acting as bridesmaid at his first wedding in 1991.

Describing Kate as the “most spectacular person I’ve ever met”, Gary previously claimed that he won’t do or say anything that would hurt either the Prince or Princess of Wales.

On the opening night of the new series, presenter AJ Odudu asked Gary whether he thinks his niece would be watching him in the house, to which he replied: “If she is it will be behind a sofa, I guess.”

Prince Harry stepped down as a working royal at the start of 2020, less than two years after marrying Meghan in May 2018.

Soon after announcing their departure, Harry and Meghan moved to begin a new life in the US with their son, Prince Archie – who was, at the time, less than a year-old.

Ever since their royal exit, Harry and Meghan have sent various attacks towards the Royal Family – particularly through his bombshell memoir and their two-part Netflix docuseries.

Although previously describing meeting and being welcomed into the family – especially by Princess Kate – as “wonderful”, Meghan has also experienced her own troubling experience as a royal.

The couple now live in Montecito, California with Archie, now four, and their two-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet.
