Princess Kate's surgery leaves stripped down Royal Family 'facing a trial by blandness'

The Royal Family will find itself in some “dire straits” over the next few months as Princess Kate recovers from her abdominal surgery, a royal commentator has claimed.

The Princess of Wales is one of the most attention-grabbing and beloved members of the Firm, according to journalist Daniela Elser. But her prolonged absence from the public eye due to private health issues may translate into a struggle for the Royal Family in keeping people beyond the fiercest royalists engaged.

In a comment piece for News.com.au, Ms Elser wrote: “With Kate gone, at least for a bit, the Palace now finds itself in some dire straits.

“The Royal Family is now facing a trial by blandness, of the actual blood members of the outfit struggling to in any way hold the nation’s interest, making it even harder for them to regularly demonstrate just how pluckily they are working for the UK.”

Princess Kate, Ms Elser believes, doesn’t just carry out public duties and champion causes close to her heart. Rather, she also brings glamour to the Firm.

The writer claimed: “Remove the Princess from the equation and the Royal Family suddenly loses all of its razzle dazzle, its fairydust, its seductiveness. PFFFT. Gone.

“The Princess of Wales, without any one of us twigging, has unintentionally witchily glamoured the world and that has now been stripped away.”

News of Kate’s ill health emerged on January 17, when Kensington Palace announced the Princess of Wales had successfully undergone a planned abdomen surgery at The London Clinic.
