Princess Kate's cancer diagnosis could be 'turning point' for Prince Harry's royal feud

Veteran royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams exclusively told Express.co.uk: “The Sussexes issued a public statement wishing Catherine and her family well. That is fine as far as it goes.

“What will be of importance in the weeks and months to come, is what happens privately. The rift between the brothers is deep, this we know.

“However, the Princess was, throughout her deeply moving statement, as positive as she could be.

“There can be benefits, even if they are difficult or impossible to comprehend at the time, coming out of the most painful and stressful situations.”

Mr Fitzwilliams praised the future queen’s “resilience” as she appeared in a “remarkable” video to announce to the world of her condition.

He said: “Illness should be fought and we saw how resilient Catherine was in a remarkable video message, where she was clearly vulnerable, but also thinking of others and protective of her family, after a hellish period where she faced such brutal trolling.”

And he added that even though the Prince of Wales has still not forgiven his estranged brother for his “betrayal”, light could be seen at the end of the tunnel in the future as the duke “comes to terms” with reality.

The expert said: “I doubt anything will happen soon, William has not forgiven the troubles the Sussexes have brought upon the monarchy which he sees as a betrayal.

“However, as Harry comes to terms with his father and now his sister-in-law fighting cancer, things may well change in the future.”
