Princess Kate 'will bounce back' after insider reveals decision to focus on recovery

Kate, the Princess of Wales “will bounce back” to health after taking the time to focus on her recovery following surgery, a source close to the royal household insisted.

The Princess of Wales underwent “planned abdominal surgery” last week and remains at The London Clinic in central London to recover.

Kensington Palace said in a statement she is not expected to return to full duties until at least Easter – with Prince William also cancelling a series of engagements to take care of Kate and their three children.

The palace insider noted the length of time the Princess is taking off suggests she does need the space and privacy to focus entirely on recovering.

They said: “It does sound serious with the length of time [she’s taking].

“But she is in great hands and will have lots of care and support at home and is a fit young woman. I am sure she will bounce back.”

They also claimed the Princess of Wales is setting a good example by ensuring she is feeling completely fine before resuming her duties rather than throwing herself back in too soon.

They told PEOPLE: “It is sensible to take the time. That is a great example to the rest of us, as you’re often told to get back to work as soon as possible, which can be damaging.

“It is good for all of us to see her taking the time, recovering properly and then coming back. We can all learn from that.”

A former patient at the clinic where Kate is recuperating insisted she is in good hands as they praised the medical staff for their support after surgery.

They said: “The physical therapists are amazing, helping you recover and get back on your feet. After abdominal surgery, you need a lot of patience, and it’s a bit scary at first.”

A planned visit to Rome scheduled for later in the Spring has now been postponed and the Prince of Wales cancelled a series of appearances to focus on Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Kate was expected to remain in hospital for up to 14 days after surgery and will then head back to her and William’s home in Windsor, Adelaide Cottage.
