With the festive season looming on the horizon, Princess Kate is preparing to take centre stage once again much to the delight of her “proud” children George, Charlotte and Louis.

In January, Princess Kate spent two weeks in hospital for major abdominal surgery and weeks later doctors delivered a secondary diagnosis of cancer and began a course of preventative chemotherapy. The mother-of-three has been working from home and taking meetings since June.

And although she will be happy to see the back of this very challenging year, the Princess of Wales will return to her annual carol concert, Together At Christmas, according to a royal expert.

The Princess has already had secret meetings regarding the fourth installment with her family set to be nothing short of delighted to return to the annual event.

The service, supported by The Royal Foundation, honours those who work to support babies, young children and families in communities across the UK and is spearheaded by mum Kate.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told Ok Magazine that this year’s carol concert will be particularly special to Kate.

Jennie said: “Halloween, Bonfire night, Christmas – they all come in a bit of a rush at this time of year, but it’s an exciting time for children – and for parents who like to join in the fun with spooky decorations, huge bonfires fireworks, toasted marshmallows and, of course, Christmas carols.

“This will obviously be a very special carol concert for Catherine, and the whole family. They will be so proud to see her back taking a leading role in one of her very own projects, and I imagine that as many members of the Royal Family as possible will join her this year.”

Jennie added: “It will be a proud moment for William and a joyful and reassuring one for the children. Mum is back, doing her thing. It won’t signal a return to royal duties for Catherine, but it will certainly be an important and hugely welcome milestone along her road to full recovery.”

Linked to Kate’s Shaping Us campaign, the service showcases “the hope of new life and why it is so important to build supportive, nurturing worlds around children and the adults in their lives”.

The annual concert at Westminster Abbey in December has quickly become an eagerly anticipated event with millions of festive viewers tuning in each year.

The service is typically broadcast on Christmas Eve after being recorded earlier in the month.

Kate is expected to join members of the Royal Family at the Cenotaph on November 10 for Remembrance Sunday, though a decision will not be made until nearer the time.
