Princess Kate set to win hearts of the public more than ever for one reason | Royal | News

A designer has said Princess Kate is set to win the hearts of the public “even more” than before for one key reason.

After stepping out on a royal engagement last week which involved a school trip to the National Portrait Gallery, Kate wowed crowds in a chic minimalist brown blazer, designed by Austrian-based Petar Petrov.

While the Princess of Wales, 43, wants people to focus more on her charitable work than they do her fashion, the designer has told People that the future Queen’s modern style is actually something that will help her “win the hearts of people” and make an impact when it comes to her work.

Petrov said: “I think she looks much more modern in the way she dresses now.

“She looks relaxed, and I think she can win the hearts of people even more because she feels like a real person that people can connect with, like Princess Diana. That’s special and makes her even more relevant than ever.”

The designer, who has also sold clothes to celebrities such as Nicole Kidman, said that by wearing less traditional regal clothes on outings, the princess is also appearing more relevant to the public.

He added: “I really think it’s great that this is the person who will be the future Queen of England, she is modern, she is reflective and she sees the world around her, rather than living in a royal bubble which makes her even more special.”

As well as praising Kate for her “modern and fresh” fashion choices, the designer has also benefited from the “Kate effect”, with the blazer the princess wore having sold out within 24 hours of her royal engagement – something plenty of designers have experienced as a result of Kate wearing their clothing.

While this boosted the fashion industry, it is believed the princess wanted people to focus solely on her work rather than her outfit choices.

It is understood that from now on, Kensington Palace may issue details of the royal’s outfits on the most important events but not for other royal duties.

A close friend of the princess claimed that Kate understood the interest in what she was wearing if she was attending a film premiere or Trooping of the Colour.

However, Kate found it “enormously difficult” for the central focus to be her clothes, rather than her work, particularly when she first began her royal duties.
