Princess Kate reveals why it took so long to confirm cancer despite online conspiracies

The Princess of Wales has revealed why it took her so long to confirm her cancer diagnosis after a bombardment of social media conspiracies.

Princess Kate had abdominal surgery in January and was in hospital for a fortnight. At the time, the condition was believed to be non-cancerous but post-operative tests have found cancer present.

Since then, she has been recovering at Sandringham and Windsor on a recovery pathway having commenced a course of preventative chemotherapy.

Throughout her time away from public duties, social media became rife with people speculating on the Princess’s wellbeing and whereabouts. Some even created extreme conspiracy theories.

But Kate has now revealed why the Palace took so long to share her cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The Princess said in her statement today that it has taken time for her to recover from her “major” abdominal surgery in January.

“But, most importantly,” she said. “It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok.

“As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.”

Kate finished her statement by asking for “time, space and privacy” for herself and her family while she completes treatment and makes a full recovery.

She said that she is grateful for her “fantastic medical team who have taken great care of (her)” and the “love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many”.

The Princess added that she was “thinking of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer” and urged them not to “lose faith or hope”.
