Princess Kate replaced as royal fashion icon by unlikely newcomer | Royal | News

For over a decade, Princess Kate has reigned supreme as the Royal Family’s ultimate style icon, admired globally for her timeless elegance, poised silhouettes, and carefully curated designer choices. Her fashion influence has shaped trends, boosted British labels, and set the gold standard for royal dressing.

But now, a fresh face is turning heads and quietly stealing the spotlight. Harriett Sperling, the new partner of Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips, has unexpectedly emerged on the royal scene as a captivating fashion force. Though she has only appeared at a handful of public engagements alongside her boyfriend, the 45-year-old has already impressed royal watchers with her polished yet playful wardrobe.

Her sartorial choices are drawing comparisons to Kate’s — and in some cases, even outshining them.

Last month, Harriett made her first public curtsy to the King and Queen — marking a significant moment in her growing public profile.

Dressed in the colour of the season, and in a shade that’s long been a staple in Princess Kate’s wardrobe, Harriett stepped out in a vibrant fit-and-flare butter-yellow design, complete with a matching fascinator.

Fans were quick to draw comparisons between the two. Taking to X, one user said: “So elegant and stunning. Princess Catherine would no doubt approve.” Another agreed, writing: “I love the dress so elegant.”

Last month she embraced effortless casual chic at Wimbledon as she cosied up to Peter, turning heads with her refined sense of style.

Clearly taking inspiration from Princess Kate, Harriett paid a thoughtful tribute to British fashion by wearing one of the royal family’s go-to labels.

Harriett opted for a sleek co-ord from Wiggy Kit – a UK-based luxury womenswear brand known for its relaxed yet elegant designs inspired by the founder’s global travels and laid-back lifestyle.

Peter’s girlfriend appeared in a soft blue cotton set, featuring a floaty top paired with a tiered maxi skirt, priced at £650. The outfit echoed Princess Kate’s timeless summer looks — effortlessly refined, subtly statement-making, and unmistakably elegant. It delivered just the right mix of ease and sophistication for a standout moment at Wimbledon.

Harrie is the new partner of Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne and the eldest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II.

The couple are believed to have begun dating in early 2024, several years after Peter’s split from his ex-wife, Autumn Kelly, in 2019.

Harriett, an NHS nurse, made her public debut alongside Peter at the Badminton Horse Trials in May last year — a key date in the royal calendar. Since then, she has made a handful of high-profile appearances, gradually stepping into the spotlight and drawing attention for her graceful presence and polished fashion sense.
