Princess Eugenie's special royal family tribute with name given to one of her sons

It appears the infant was named after his great-great-great grandfather George V.

Eugenie wrote: “He is named after his great great great Grandfather George, his Grandpa George and my Grandpa Ronald.”

King George V, who was the grandfather of the late Queen Elizabeth, reigned from 1910 to 1936 and had Ernest as one of his middle names.

The princess’s son’s middle name George is a sweet tribute to his late grandfather George Brooksbank who died in November 2021, whereas Ronnie is a tribute to Ronald Ferguson, the late father of Eugenie’s mum Sarah Ferguson, who died in 2003.

Fergie, as she is known among family and friends, also talked about her grandson’s name on her podcast Tea Talks with the Duchess & Sarah.

She said: “He’s done very, very well. He’s called Ernest George Ronnie.

“He’s Ernest because George the third [great-grandfather]’s middle name was Ernest, and also because it’s a fabulous name.

“And then George after Jack’s father and Ronald, Ronnie, after my father, which was really touching.

“When Jack and Eugenie told me, it was so moving that they put my dad in there. It was very kind, I thought—made me cry, of course.”
