Princess Eugenie has posted a rare picture of her two sons as they spent quality time together at a Christmas market.

Accompanied by their grandmother Sarah Ferguson, Eugenie’s children August, three, and one-year-old Ernest were pictured from the back as they walked through Windsor Great Park Illuminated, surrounded by fairground rides and food stalls.

Posting to her 1.8million Instagram followers, Princess Eugenie captioned the photo: “The start of the Christmas countdown was made even more magical this year by having some granny and mummy time at Windsor Illuminated.

“I’d love to hear what festive things you get up to.”

A beautiful lights display could be seen, as well as a pizza stand and and a burger stall.

Princess Eugenie, 34, dressed in all black, held hands with little August, who donned adorable bright yellow wellie boots for the festive outing.

Meanhile Sarah Ferguson wore a black skirt and black boots, with a red jacket with the phrase “Educate a girl, change the world” written on the back.

The Duchess of York was carrying baby Ernest, who was wearing green wellie boots and a black and red coast.

The description of the event on the official page reads: “Windsor Great Park Illuminated returns with another magical trail, bringing the woodland to life with dazzling lights, breath-taking projections and flood-lit fountain shows.

“With a generous sparkle of new installations and a sprinkling of favourites returning, this year’s Windsor Great Park Illuminated promises to be more magical than ever.”

It adds that there is a forst trail where “woodland creatures come to life”, while there is mulled wine, hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows on offer.

It lasts from November 15 until January 4, with tickets starting at £19.80 for adults, £12.10 for children and £56.10 for family tickets for two adults and two children, which may well be what the royals purchased for their outing.
