Princess Eugenie joins huge Easter egg hunt in London with school children

Princess Eugenie read to young school children in Chelsea, London, and joined in with an abnormally large Easter Egg hunt as she promoted Queen Camilla’s late brother’s conservation charity.

King Charles’s niece chatted to children from Garden House School at Elephant Family’s Little Egg Hunt in Chelsea on March 21.

Princess Eugenie, 33, got involved with the event because Queen Camilla’s late brother, Mark Shand, was a “dear friend” who set up Elephant Family in 2003.

As told to the Daily Mail, the Princess, dressed in a patterned dress and a maroon coat said: “It was so important to be here because I have worked with the Elephant Family for so many years now and they are a charity so close to my heart, close to my family’s heart.”

Princess Eugenie, who is patron of the Elephant Family, explained taking part in egg hunts or bamboo elephant activities in Hyde Park, “bridges the gap” with what happens in the wild so people can help learn about conservation.

The Easter egg hunt and art celebration was presented by the royal charity and Clarence Court Eggs, and brings together art and philanthropy. Over the next few weeks, egg sculptures will be dotted around the posh Chelsea borough from March 20 until April 14 for everyone to enjoy.

Jumbo-sized eggs have been designed by world-renowned artists including Anya Hindmarch, Philip Colbert, Charlotte Colbert, Dan Baldwin, James McQueen, Bellerby Globe, Natasha Kumar and others.

In 2020, the Elephant Family joined forces with the British Asian Trust in a new philanthropic partnership dedicated to supporting Asia’s wildlife.

The website states over £20million has been raised to support “magnificent wildlife” and their “precious habitats”. Events have previously included Faberge egg hunts in New York to Animal Balls in London to raise money for their cause.
