Charles Spencer has remained unusually quiet on social media after his daughter Eliza announced her engagement last week. Taking to her Instagram, Eliza shared a loved-up picture with her now-fiancé, Channing Millerd on July 31.
Alongside the picture – which looked to be taken on the day of their engagement – Eliza wrote: “Forever and Ever”, followed by a red heart emoji. Within the past five days since the major family announcement, Charles has made no mention of his daughter’s happy news on his typically-active Instagram account.
The 61-year-old, who has been known to be very vocal on the social media platform, has posted twice since Thursday – with neither post mentioning Eliza or her engagement.
Previously speaking to HELLO!, Eliza has gushed about her now-husband-to-be, sharing that he is “truly” her best friend.
She told the publication: “We understand each other so well, our bond is built on trust, laughter, and shared values.”
The proposal took place in Santorini, Greece, during a stunning candlelit dinner against the island’s breathtaking sunset.
Charles, who is the 9th Earl Spencer, has experienced strained relationships with his children in recent years – with them having been the subject of discussion among royal watchers.
Despite this, no rift ever being officially confirmed by any member of the family.
The younger brother of the late Princess Diana did not attend two of his daughters’ weddings, Lady Kitty Spencer and Lady Amelia Spencer.
Eliza’s sister Amelia, , was one of the first to congratulate the happy couple, taking to the comment section to share: “The best news everrrrrrrr.”
