Princess Beatrice's husband broke royal tradition because of Meghan Markle

The Royal Family’s traditions are incredibly important to them, with one season a time for extra special celebrations. But who can attend these gatherings with the rest of the Firm is extremely exclusive.

But one year meant that Princess Beatrice’s now husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi could bend the rules – and it’s partly down to Meghan Markle.

The couple got married in a small ceremony in July 2020, which meant Edoardo can now attend official Royal events and get the best seats at Royal celebrations.

But even before they were married, he got a sneak peek at one of the family’s favourite days out – Christmas morning at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, even though tradition says he shouldn’t have been there.

Normally, invites to the family’s private Sandringham celebrations are only for members of The Firm, and partners usually have to wait until they’re married to join in. But Edoardo was given the rare privilege of joining the Christmas celebrations – despite not officially being part of the family.

The celebrations included rare guest appearances in 2017 when Prince Harry invited Meghan Markle before they were married, and this inspired Beatrice to do the same with Edoardo.
