Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie reportedly “won’t spend Christmas” with Prince Andrew – and will, instead, spend the day with their husbands’ families.
Beatrice, 36, and Eugenie, 34, are believed to be spending the festive period with their in-laws amid the current controversy surrounding their father.
Their decisions are said to have been made after having not had the chance to do so for several years.
Married to Jack Brooksbank, Eugenie is mum to their sons August, three, and Ernest, one. Beatrice shares three-year-old Sienna with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. As well as being mum to their daughter, Beatrice is also a stepmum to Edoardo’s eight-year-old son Wolfie.
According to new claims by the Daily Mail, Andrew, 64, will “stay holed up in Royal Lodge” with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and will reportedly not be joining the Royal Family at Sandringham.
The publication reports that King Charles didn’t want to ban his brother from Sandringham but hoped that he “do the decent thing” and stay away amid the Chinese spy scandal.
This news comes after it was alleged that Andrew had “invited” a Chinese spy into Buckingham Palace on two occasions, as well as St James’s Palace and Windsor Castle.
It has now come to light that alleged Chinese spy Yang Tengbo, who forged links with the Duke of York and mixed with other British establishment figures, insisted he has “done nothing wrong or unlawful”.
Amid the scandal, the King and Queen had reportedly made clear privately that it would be a “blessing” if Sarah – known to them still as ‘Fergie’ – were to persuade her ex-husband to “see sense” and tactfully opt out of public gatherings over the next few weeks.
It had previously been reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are no longer senior working royals, had invited Princess Eugenie and her family to California this Christmas.
In tradition for the royals, King Charles will be spending Christmas at Sandringham with Queen Camilla. The couple are expected to be joined by the likes of Princess Anne and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence – as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children.
Before flying to Australia in January, Zara and Mike Tindall are expected to join royal celebrations in Norfolk with their children.
