Princess Anne was crowned the hardest-working royal for yet another year as she has carried out a total of 217 engagements so far in 2024, with a surprise member of the Royal Family taking the third spot, a new study has revealed.
The Princess Royal has been topping the number of royal engagements undertaken annually for four years now, as she’s consistently ranked first, and this year was no different. Particularly following her brother, King Charles’s cancer diagnosisat the start of the year, which prompted members of the Royal Family to step up as he underwent treatment for his illness.
Anne saw a 2.4% increase in her engagements this year, as last year, she carried out a total of 212, according to the latest research by SEO agency Reboot Online. The agency utilised the Royal Court Circular to get the number of engagements by each senior working member of the Royal Family between January 1 and December 31 2024.
November was Anne’s busiest month, with an impressive 28 engagements taking place.
King Charles came second despite his ongoing cancer treatment and carried out an equally impressive number of royal engagements – 186 in total.
It was a 5.6% decrease from 2023 when Charles carried out 197 engagements.
October was the King’s busiest month with 26 engagements, and his quietest month is set to be December with just one royal engagement planned so far. Though more are set to be announced over the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the Duke of Gloucester, Prince Richard, came in third place with 126 royal engagements in 2024, a whopping 11.5% increase from 2023, when he carried out 113.
September was The Duke of Gloucester’s busiest month, with an impressive 15 engagements taking place, 4 engagements more than his wife Birgitte.
Last year, Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, was ranked third; however, this year, he came in seventh with 124 engagements and a -12% decrease from the 141 in 2023.
The Princess of Wales came tenth with a total of 11 royal engagements in 2024, which was an 88% decrease from 92 in 2023.
Princess Kate has been largely absent this year as she underwent preventative chemotherapy following her cancer diagnosis back in March. In October, she announced she’d completed her treatment and would slowly return to royal life.
Prince William also had a quieter year, with 71 engagements, a 35.5% decrease from 110 in 2023.
