The Prince of Wales has recently adopted a new, more “contemporary” style for his public appearances. This has come to fruition via two key changes in what has been dubbed a “rugged rebrand” – and fans have gone wild.
Prince William sparked a royal fan frenzy back in August when he first showcased his newly-acquired stubble, which some had assumed was part of his laid back summer holiday look.
But he has since kept it, and appeared to opt for more relaxed and casual sartorial choices for his engagements. Earlier this month, the heir to the throne’s style evolution peaked when he made headlines after sporting a pair of bright white trainers for an engagement in London.
William attended a community event by the NFL Foundation, which highlighted its efforts to support young people in some of the most deprived areas in the UK through flag football.
The future King looked dapper in a smart casual outfit which consisted of a dark slim-fit blazer, a blue shirt, dark chinos and white trainers.
Royal fans went wild over the prince’s look which he elevated by sporting his now-famous beard.
Now a style expert has praised William’s sartorial choices and claimed he’s adopting a new “age-appropriate look”.
Celebrity stylist Martine Alexander told the Mail: “This positive response has given William the confidence to be more contemporary with his style. It seems that he’s adopting an age-appropriate look and it’s great to see.
“A slim-fit blazer and open shirt create a younger look. The cropped length of the chinos makes the look more on-trend and contemporary.”
The expert added that the royal’s latest laid-back look may be inspired by his wife, the Princess of Wales, who opts for similar styles when attending casual engagements.
She explained: “When Kate is in a sporting environment, she is very relaxed but still smart casual and will always opt for a trainer and slim-fit jeans.
“William has potentially been inspired by Kate’s style – for him to be slightly more contemporary and trendy.”
The outlet claimed that William is said to be working with stylist Natasha Archer, who is responsible for creating some of his wife Kate’s most iconic outfits.
Meanwhile, body language expert Judi James added that William’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis could have contributed to their father’s new look.
She said: “William has three children that are getting to the age where they will often make comments or jokes about any out-of-date dad clothing and start to quietly revolutionise his look, especially as he seems to have been spending more time with them recently.”
