Prince William shows true colours at BAFTAs as he breaks from late Queen's tradition

Prince William appeared “confident” on the BAFTAS red carpet last night despite being without his wife Princess Kate, who is still recovering from abdominal surgery.

The couple attended the awards ceremony together in 2023, the first time they had done so since 2020, as William is President of BAFTA and invited to attend each year.

Body language expert Darren Stanton claimed that the Prince of Wales was unfazed by the attention he received and could even have been “mistaken for a Hollywood actor” with his suave appearance.

Mr Stanton also noted that William was far more relaxed and engaged with speaking to members of the public and even shook their hands, something the late Queen Elizabeth would never do.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Live Casino, the expert said: “Despite not having Kate by his side, William was in a relaxed emotional state. He also spent a lot of time speaking to the public, where he showed great eye contact and was happy to shake hands, which is a break in royal protocol.

He continued: “What’s fantastic is that William likes to show himself as being in touch with the public. There was an interesting clip of him speaking to Elaine Bedell, who is chief executive of the Southbank Centre, as she asked him about this year’s films.

“It’s good that William allowed the cameras to see him as being completely normal during the moment. He’s just like the rest of us, and people like to know he’s on that level. It’s good for the public to see that the future monarch is so down to earth.”

William has returned to royal duties following a short break to care for his young family, as Kate spent nearly two weeks in hospital in London after a major operation.
