Prince William has let slip one beloved Christmas tradition he enjoys with his family, Princess Kate and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, without the rest of the Royal Family.

The Royal Family have a packed schedule during the Christmas period, with the majority of them heading to Norfolk for a few days of festive fun.

On the morning of Christmas day, the royals traditionally walk to church together in Sandringham, greeting well-wishers on the way, before enjoying a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings at Sandringham House.

However, the Prince of Wales recently revealed there’s another tradition his family enjoy – walking the dogs together.

The heir to the throne made the revelation during a visit to a seasonal event for families of the 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment in his role as colonel-in-chief at Bulford, Wiltshire, on Tuesday.

William sat down and chatted with soldiers and their families before handing out bags of presents to children around a Christmas tree.

Leah St Clair-Lewis, from the WRVS, discussed her role within services welfare with William before talking about their dogs.

She said: “We spoke about what he was up to for Christmas and enjoying walks with his dogs at Sandringham.”

The Waleses currently own one dog – a black cocker spaniel named Orla, which was given to them by Princess Kate’s brother, James Middleton, before the death of their previous cocker spaniel, Lupo, that died in 2020.

Elsewhere, William said that he was looking forward to but he was “not ready” for the festive season.

He told one family: “Am I ready for Christmas? No, no way am I ready”.

The prince also revealed that he was looking forward to spending the day with 45 members of his family “all in one room” – but said they are “normally spread out”.
