Prince William left 'frustrated' after Prince Harry was able to do one thing he couldn't

Prince Harry was allowed to do one thing that Prince William couldn’t, which allegedly left the heir to the throne “frustrated”.

The Duke of Sussex explored his relationship with his older brother in his memoir Spare.

In the book, Harry touched on how his life as the ‘spare’ differed from the ‘heir’ to the throne.

The royal wrote of a time when he and William underwent pilot training while living in a cottage in Shropshire.

He described how “we had a load of laughs in that cottage” but there were tensions, too.

While in Shropshire, the brothers agreed to a joint interview, during which William apparently joked about Harry being a slob and snoring, to which Harry objected to, telling the interviewers that it was not true.

Harry wrote: “I turned and gave him a look. Was he joking?

“We often bantered like that, but when I look back on it now, I can’t help but wonder if there wasn’t something else at play.

“I was training to get to the front line, the same place Willy had been training to get, but the Palace had scuttled his plans. The Spare, sure, let him run around a battlefield like a chicken with its head cut off, if that’s what he likes. But the heir? No.”

He suggested William was “quietly frustrated” by his younger brother’s freedom.

The now-Prince of Wales went on to become a search and rescue pilot for three years, conducting a total of 156 missions and rescuing 149 people.

He wrote: “I was proud of him and full of respect for the way he was dedicating himself wholeheartedly to his preparation.”
