Prince William interrupted Scott Mills’s BBC Radio 2 breakfast show this morning with a special message. The royal, who apologised that he coudn’t be there in person, lefty a voicemail as he knew Robert Irwin – who is an ambassador for Earthshot Prize – was on the show.
In the message that was played during the show, William said: “Good morning, Scott, or should I say G’day, Scott? I know you’ve got the fantastic Robert Irwin on the show this morning, brilliant ambassador for the Earthshot Prize. Sorry, I can’t be with you both this morning, hoping to catch up with you soon.”
After inviting him to this year’s Earthshot Prize, which, as previously revealed, will be held in Brazil, and wishing him a “fantastic” show, William then jokingly warned him of Robert’s antics.
William added: “Just beware Scott, that Robert likes to pull random terrifying animals and creatures out of his pockets while he’s on anyone’s show and talking to them.
“So just watch your back at all times that a tarantula or something doesn’t suddenly pop onto your desk.”
Finishing up his message, the royal said: “But listen, have a good show, and hope to catch up on you both very soon. Goodbye.”
Prince William’s Earthshot Prize, which he founded in 2020, is a global environment prize aimed at finding and scaling innovative solutions to address the world’s biggest environmental challenges.
The prize focuses on five “Earthshots” that, if achieved by 2030, will significantly improve life for everyone.
The upcoming Earthshot Prize will be held in Rio in November, as revealed by Earthshot.
William previously said: “2025 marks the midway point of the Earthshot decade and each year we’ve witnessed the remarkable power of human ingenuity in addressing our planet’s most pressing challenges.”
