Although they are the future King and Queen of the country, Prince William and Princess Kate are just like other happily married couples when it comes to life behind closed doors.
Switching their home from Kensington Palace to a cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle, it comes as no surprise that the couple crave privacy when not on royal duty, especially when it comes to the lives of their three young children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
While they may be used to cameras following them wherever they go, this did not stop the royal couple from attempting to do a normal thing a few years ago as they stepped out for a secret date night at a venue not often visited by royalty.
In 2021, during a visit to St Andrews in Scotland, where the couple first started dating in their university days, William and Kate decided to have dinner out at Forgan’s restaurant, a contemporary eatery with a Scottish twist.
To enjoy a meal without prying eyes, the couple sat in a private seating area at the back and were undisturbed for the meal.
According to The Mirror, a manager who worked at the restaurant said at the time: “There was a crowd outside once they left but as far as inside goes it was quiet.
“There was no pomp and ceremony or fanfare, they were very nice and when they left they were very complimentary.”
Enjoying a meal out together is a rare occasion for the pair, who tend to stay at home and enjoy home-cooked food with their free children.
In previous interviews, the princess has revealed what she enjoys cooking for her family, with the children often offering a helping hand to their mum.
