The Prince and Princess of Wales do not sleep upstairs like most people when they stay at their London property, it has been reported.
Kate and William, who now reside in Windsor, previously held Apartment A1 at Kensington Palace as their official residence.
Their bedroom is located downstairs within the vast property, meaning Kate and William sleep on the ground floor, explained the Mirror.
The home, which was previously occupied by the late Princess Margaret, boasts 20 rooms over four floors – including its own gym, lift and nine rooms for staff.
Speaking previously on The Royal Beat, royal author Christopher Warwick also explained why the home is also called an ‘apartment’.
He said: “All of these royal residences at Kensington Palace are called apartments.
“Which of course makes people immediately think they are flats like the American term for an apartment. They are not.”
The author then went on to say: “If you think of Kensington Palace in a way, it is built around three courtyards.
“If you kind of think of them as being these wonderful red brick terrace houses. Because they are all joined, but separate houses.”
The couple now reside at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, moving there with their three children in 2022. Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, also all attend Lambrook School in Berkshire, a school close to their home.
