Prince William and Princess Kate’s royal milestone of being able to issue royal warrants has reportedly been delayed, with King Charles not yet giving the couple the authority to do this. The Prince and Princess of Wales are reportedly set to be given the responsibility soon, however various reports today suggest that the King has not yet authorised this.
The tradition of royal warrants would allow William, 42, and Kate, 43, to officially acknowledge the brands they use. This gives brands a form of prestigious endorsement.
However, William and Kate cannot issue these warrants until the King gives the go-ahead, which means that some companies used by the future King and Queen cannot yet begin the application process, causing some brands to begin asking questions, The Times has reported.
The authority to grant royal warrants is not automatic and needs to be given to the senior royal by the monarch.
If William and Kate are giving permission to grant the royals warrants, Kate would become the first Princess of Wales to do so since 1910, as reported by GB News.
It is not known exactly what companies would receive a royal warrant under the couple, however it is believed the pair want to “recognise British skills and industry”, according to a source.
It is likely that the princess will give some royal warrants to British fashion brands she wears, with Victoria Beckham potentially being on the list.
Meanwhile, Prince William is likely to give the privilege to a number of eco-friendly brands, echoing his passion for the environment and sustainability.
No member of the Royal Family has commented publicly on the matter, however the rumoured delay by King Charles doesn’t seem to have caused any tension for the monarch and Prince William, who were seen sharing a sweet father-and-son moment on Friday.
