Prince Harry's seven-word response to being pushed down the royal line of succession

Prince Harry once had a very sweet seven-word response to being pushed down the royal line of succession.

At the time of his birth in September 1984, Harry was third in line to the throne – after his father, the now-King Charles and elder brother, Prince William.

After Prince William welcomed his first child with his wife, Princess Kate in 2013, Harry was pushed a spot down the line to make way for his new nephew, Prince George.

Two years later, Princess Kate gave birth to Princess Charlotte in 2015 – which meant that Harry was, yet, again pushed another place in line.

During an interview in 2017, Harry was asked how he felt about being bumped down the line – and he provided a very sweet response.

Speaking to royal expert Angela Levin, Harry said: “The reason I am now fifth is because of my nephew and niece and I could never wish them away. They are the most amazing things ever.”

Prince William and Kate then went on to welcome their third child – and second son – Prince Louis in 2018.

In the same interview, Harry shared his desire to become a father one day.

Harry also once told the Mirror that he would love to see George and Charlotte become part of the Armed Forces.

The 39-year-old said: “I would definitely encourage George, and Charlotte if she wants to, to have some sort of involvement in the Armed Forces, guaranteed. It’s done me no harm, just good, for me, and I know it’s the same for William.”

Since stepping down as a senior working royal in 2020, Harry has gone on to welcomed two children – Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two – with wife Meghan Markle.
