Since photographs of Harry walking across the landmines were released yesterday, royal fans – who have been more critical of the prince since he left the UK five years ago for a new life in America – have flocked to praise the duke and the way he is continuing Diana’s legacy.
One fan wrote on X: “So proud of Prince Harry. The people’s Prince. Diana would be smiling and proud of him. Well done Halo Trust for your commitment to this cause.”
Another said: “Wow, it’s so moving to see Prince Harry honoring his mom, Princess Diana, by walking through that Angola minefield! Following her legacy with The Halo Trust is a powerful way to keep raising awareness about landmines. Respect!”
Someone else commented: “Prince Harry is Princess Diana’s legacy.”
A fourth fan wrote: “That’s such a powerful move! Honoring his mom’s legacy while making a real difference. Major respect to him for highlighting this important cause.”
Prince Harry’s trip to Africa has been a solo venture, with his wife Meghan Markle, not by his side.
Instead, it is believed the Duchess of Sussex is at home with the couple’s children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, in Montecito.
Prince Harry has also taken part in other engagements so far in Angola, including a visit to a remote village where he delivered life-saving messages to children as part of HALO’s community outreach programme. This included giving advice to young people about what to do when coming across landmines.
