Prince Harry is set to have a “harder” time than Meghan Markle after their major £78m Netflix blow, it has been claimed. The couple, who signed with the popular streaming service in 2020, will see the lucrative deal terminated in September.
According to a host of royal experts and commentator Jennie Bond, the couple sealing the deal to begin with was “quite an achievement”. Since signing the deal, shortly after stepping down as senior working royals, Meghan and Harry have released four projects with Netflix – and had another which was previously in the works – Pearl – but was never released. As per GB News, Ms Bond said that Meghan “has every chance of making a lot of money as an influencer” compared to her husband, whom she shares two children with.
For this reason, she added that the transition is likely to be “harder for Harry” than it will be for Meghan.
Discussing Harry’s move to the US, and away from all he knew as a royal, the expert previously said: “Coming to recognise that the LA celebrity world is one in which he is not especially comfortable.”
The couple’s initial release, titled Harry & Meghan, broke records on the streaming service with the highest view hours of any documentary title in a premiere week.
After the release of the six-party series in December 2022, 81.55 million hours were viewed across 28 million households.
Harry’s docuseries Polo, which was released last December, only got 500,000 views, whilst Heart of Invictus only got 300,000.
Their most recent release was Meghan’s series, With Love, Meghan, which failed to make the streamer’s top 300 viewed programs in the first half of 2025.
Speaking about the deal, a source told The Sun: “There’s no animosity from either side. Things have just run their course.”
