A key member of the Royal Family has stepped in and replaced Prince Harry role as the ‘Firm’s joker’ this Christmas.
The royals are renowned for exchanging cheap gag gifts at Christmas with the family enjoying a “good giggle like most families” over the festive season.
Over the years, the hilarious gifts have reportedly included a leather toilet seat from Princess Anne to her older brother King Charles while Princess Kate, who once shared a very close relationship with Harry, once reportedly brought her brother in law a “grow-your-own-girlfriend” kit to reference his string of failed past relationships.
Prince Harry once gifted his grandmother a singing fish which she proudly hanged in Balmoral as she loved it so much.
Meanwhile, another one of the Duke of Sussex’s reported obscene gifts to his grandmother was a “Ain’t life a b***h” shower cap.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not spent Christmas with the royals since 2018.
The Duke of Sussex was once regarded as the family’s biggest joker but since his famous departure from the firm in 2020 it seems like his dad, King Charles has stepped in to provide the humour.
“It’s a long-running tradition for the family to exchange joke gifts at Christmas, so there’s always a lot of laughter at Sandringham,” royal commentator Duncan Larcombe previously told OK!
“In the past, Prince Harry used to be the biggest joker, but now I imagine it’s Charles, who has a very strong sense of humour.”
The royal expert believes the King “will definitely be the one playing pranks and messing about with the grandchildren at Christmas” and Anne “is a bit like the naughty auntie, with everyone wondering what she might say or do next”.
Duncan added: “Sometimes we imagine the royals are all very serious, but they like a good giggle like most families.
“Charles once said having a sense of humour is what keeps him sane, and so sharing joke presents helps lighten the atmosphere when things can otherwise be quite formal.”
Unlike most families across the UK, the Royal Family traditionally exchange Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve – an ode to their German heritage – whilst they’re in Sandringham.
