Prince Harry has been given a new nickname by royal fans as he is set to fly home to Meghan Markle within days.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, has spent the last eight days in Canada for The Invictus Games, a cause he set up in 2014 to help ex servicemen and women.
While Meghan, 43, originally flew out with her husband to support him, she flew back on a private jet just days later to the couple’s Montecito home to be with their two children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
Harry has stayed on in Canada alone, with the duke set to attend the closing ceremony of the competition tonight before also returning back to America – a place he has called home since quitting life as a senior royal in 2020.
Since the start of the 2025 Invictus Games competition last week, which has seen ex service personnel compete in adaptive sports for their countries, Harry has received plenty of praise for royal fans as he has been cheering athletes on from the sidelines.
He has also won himself a new nickname, with fans having dubbed him the “People’s Prince”, a name similar to the one held by his mother the late Princess Diana, who for years was known as the “People’s Princess”.
On X, one royal fan said: “Prince Harry is definitely the people’s prince.”
Another wrote: “To see these service men and women having a newfound purpose in life is something extraordinary to watch. Bravo to The People’s Prince for his commitment to Veterans!”
A third said: “Harry & Meghan are the people prince & princess.”
People have also been quick to compare Harry’s actions this week to the actions of his mother the late Princess Diana.
One fan wrote on X: “Amazing how he connects with people of all backgrounds. Truly Diana’s heir.”
Another said: “When Prince Harry said ‘I am my mother’s son’, he meant it in every sense. Princess Diana and Prince Harry capture your heart in a way others can’t.”
Harry is expected to return to Montecito within days following the end of the Invictus Games 2025 competition on Sunday.
