Prince Harry has been urged to “keep his head down” as an expert warned him to focus on his charity work following his recent row with US President Donald Trump.
The Duke of Sussex has found himself in hot water after admitting to previous drug use in his memoir Spare, published in January 2023.
Harry’s claims sparked a row with the Heritage Foundation, a conservative Washington DC think tank, which demanded the US Government release Harry’s immigration records.
Under US law, while not constituting an automatic ban, drug use can be grounds to reject a visa application.
But on Friday, Mr Trump brushed off claims regarding deporting the duke.
He told the New York Post: ” “I don’t want to do that [deport Prince Harry]. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
The next day, the duke gave a speech in front of 40,000 people during the Invictus Games opening ceremony, condemning “weak moral character in the world” before he thanked the veterans in what was viewed as a swipe at Mr Trump following his comments on Meghan Markle.
But now, an expert has advised the duke to lay low and focus on his charitable work to defuse the situation with the US President.
British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard dubbed Harry a “small fry” for Mr Trump, who will likely “not jeopardise” his relationship with the Royal Family.
She told Fox News: “His [Donald Trump’s] stance is America first. He is strong on border control, immigration and deportation.
“Despite his funny statement highlighting he won’t deport Harry, he could well have a change of heart if Harry is found guilty of lying on his visa documents.
“Prince Harry could be the perfect poster boy… however, Trump dislikes Meghan and deporting Meghan is not on the cards.”
She added: “Trump speaks highly and values our monarchy.
“For this reason, he is giving poor hoodwinked Harry a right to stay in the US.
“Prince Harry is a small fry for Trump to bother with. He has more important issues to deal with.”
