Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Hollywood pal has opened up about the Sussex family during a recent appearance with the duchess in LA.
American actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry, who’s also Princess Lilibet’s godfather, attended the Paley Honors Fall Gala earlier this week, where he received the highest honour from The Paley Center for Media – the Paley Honours Award.
The 55-year-old was snapped with the Duchess of Sussex on the red carpet and gushed over her relationship with Prince Harry while speaking to the press.
He told E! News: “They love each other.
“They have a beautiful family and I just want the best for them.”
Mr Perry also spoke about his personal relationship with Meghan, who attended the gala to support him.
He said: “It’s a real, pure and beautiful friendship. I love them.”
The filmmaker revealed whether he’ll be spoiling his goddaughter this festive season, to which he replied:
“Even for my own son, we’re very limited in gifts because we don’t want them to ever think that you should just get things because you are born to someone.
“You should earn it.”
Mr Perry talked about becoming Princess Lilibet’s godfather on the Sussexes’s Netflix docuseries, Harry and Meghan, where he revealed the moment they asked him to hold the “honour”.
He said: “They were pretty serious on the phone. I go, ‘OK, what’s going on?’
“They said, ‘Well, we’d like for you to be Lili’s godfather.’ I go, ‘Whoa.’
“I take a minute to take that in. And I thought, ‘I’d be honoured. I’d be absolutely honoured.'”
