Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tipped for major new career move in huge blow for Netflix

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are tipped for a major new career move amid speculation they will soon cut ties with streaming giant Netflix, an expert has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have blown speculation “wide open” that they are planning a move to another streaming platform, Disney.

For many months, there have been rumours Netflix could end its relationship with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, or vice versa, which follows on from how Spotify stopped working with the couple last year.

This was made even more exciting when the couple went to the Bob Marley: One Love premiere in Jamaica earlier this year. They even took photos with Brian Robbins, who is the CEO of Paramount Pictures.

On Sunday, a new Prince Harry documentary started streaming on the Disney-owned platform Hulu. The documentary features segments of the Duke’s recent Good Morning America interview, which he gave while in Canada recently.

‘Prince Harry’s Mission: Life, Family and Invictus Games’ began streaming on Netflix’s Disney-owned rival Hulu on Sunday (February 25).

It includes Harry telling Good Morning America reporter, Will Reeve, he “felt grateful” for being able to visit King Charles following his cancer diagnosis.

The new Hulu documentary sees Prince William dubbed “jealous” of Harry’s success with the Invictus Games, and it also claims that Harry’s father King Charles doesn’t have a relationship with his grandchildren Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Hollywood and public relations guru Lynn Carratt from Press Box PR has weighed in on Harry’s latest documentary, revealing that it has “caused controversy” due to the Sussexes having an £80million deal with Netflix, “making it surprising that the documentary would not screen on Netflix as Hulu is one of their rivals”, she noted.

She told Mirror Online: “It’s worth noting that Hulu is only available for streaming in the USA and not the UK and it’s likely that the documentary was a pre-requisite of the ABC interview he did with Good Morning America during The Invictus Games One Year to Event and Harry has signed a release to allow them to put this documentary together.

“After all it is good PR for the Invictus Games.”

She then touched on “the amount of money involved in their Netflix contract” and how it’s likely that Harry and Hulu “would have had to run this by Netflix before making it – they’ll be also all kinds of clauses to jump through in a contract of that magnitude”.

She continued: “It’s also worth mentioning that Netflix previously streamed Prince Harry’s Heart of Invictus documentary last year, which did not perform well in terms of streaming figures”.

She added how it failed to make Netflix’s top 10 list, “so it is likely that Netflix had the first refusal on the documentary and they have passed on.

She said: “As they are currently focusing on the film Meet Me at the Lake, that Harry and Meghan are producing.”

“However, this does now blow the speculation wide open that when their $100 million contract with Netflix ends in early 2025, will they be planning a move to Disney who own Hulu?”
