Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spark fury with 'provocative behaviour' on Jamaica trip

Richard Fitzwilliams, another royal commentator, told The Sun: “Harry and Meghan posing with these people — bearing in mind what happened with William and Catherine and movements towards a republic — they know perfectly well what they are doing.

“It is an ambiguity of behaviour because they know Jamaica intends to become a republic but should not act as flag-wavers for it.”

He said it was a “calculated photo opportunity.”

The controversial decision to stand next to those plotting to scrap the UK monarchy comes at a difficult time for the Royal Family in the UK amid a series of health challenges – including for Princess Kate who is in hospital recovering from abdominal surgery and King Charles who is undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate.

Mr Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “Harry and Meghan clearly staged this appearance in Jamaica because they knew it would get a huge amount of publicity during a difficult week for the royal family, with the King due to enter hospital and Catherine in hospital after an operation and due to take some weeks to recover.

“This appearance by the Sussexes was no accident.”

Jamaica’s parliament is preparing to debate a bill in April. There are plans for a referendum over removing the King as their head of state.

The Sussexes were in Jamaica for the premiere of new music biopic Bob Marley: One Love.
