Prince Harry and Meghan Markle defended as source insists Palace website change 'not snub'

The Sussexes first stepped down as working members of the Royal Family in January 2020, however they continued to have their own pages on the royal website for more than four years after.

The first sentence of their new profile explains that they “have stepped back as working members of The Royal Family” and details their other accomplishments.

This means they are now the only married couple in the Royal Family who do not have their own individual profiles and their new section goes into less detail about their lives.

Before the update Harry’s section was a lengthy 2,700 words and pored over every aspect of his life, from his schooldays, military career, time working alongside the late Queen and his extensive charity work.

It has now been shortened to explain his relation to the Royal Family, his tours in Afghanistan, and his work co-founding Sentebale and the Invictus Games.

When it comes to Meghan, her bio was once around 1,300 words and detailed her work as an actress and philanthropist before joining the Royal Family.

In a statement in 2023, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “The Royal Family website contains over five thousand pages of information about the life and work of the Royal Family.

“Following the death of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, content has been revisited and updated periodically. Some content may be out of date until this process is complete.”

Since stepping down as working royals Harry and Meghan have made their home in Montecito, California, where they are raising their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
