The second in line to the throne might only be 11 years old, but Prince George is set to receive a major promotion that could see him taking part in major royal events in the not-so-distant future.

According to Ailsa Anderson, former press secretary to the late Queen Elizabeth II, she wouldn’t be surprised to see George standing beside his mother at events such as Remembrance Sunday.

She told People Magazine: “I’m sure there will be a time in the not-too-distant future when Prince George will be up there.”

Over Remembrance weekend, Princess Kate, 42, made a big return to public duty by attending the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall alongside Prince William and wider members of the Firm.

Commenting on the Princess of Wales’s attendance, Alisa added: “She looked happy and relaxed. She must be fully aware that people might have noticed any show of discomfort, but she was glowing, actually.”

The former royal aide stated that events such as Remembrance Day are “key dates in the Royal Family calendar” and it would have been a “comfort” for Prince William to have his wife present.

Joining Kate on the balcony at the Foreign Office for Remembrance Sunday was Duchess Sophie, who has been a pillar of support for the royal following her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

The pair watched on as King Charles led the nation in a two-minute silence to commemorate those who have died in conflict. The annual service is a fixture in the royal calendar and is held to mark the Armistice of the First World War and all other conflicts involving British and Commonwealth forces.

Alisa said: “It was quite poignant having just her and the Duchess of Edinburgh on the balcony. It brought it home to me how slimmed down the monarchy is.”

Buckingham Palace followed up on November 8, with the news that Queen Camilla would miss all Remembrance events over the weekend as she continued her recovery, hence she was missing from the balcony.

The former aide to Queen Elizabeth II added: “She [Princess Kate] has been out of action for most of the year,” she continues. “So, I hope it is a reassuring message that things are slowly getting back to a semblance of normality.”

This year Prince George joined his father for sporting fixtures, delighting both sports and royal fans alike.

Prince William brought George along as a special guest to the highly anticipated UEFA European Championship final in Germany for the last game of the tournament between England and Spain.

Unfortunately, the pair did not come away celebrating as England lost 2-1 to Spain following a nail-biting 90 minutes, but the royal father and son duo looked tense while watching the game.

William, who was there in his role as President of the FA, posted a personal message on X following the defeat. “This time it just wasn’t meant to be. We’re all still so proud of you. Onwards England.”
