Prince George poised to follow William in centuries-old royal tradition: 'A sure thing'

Prince William is raising the future king, and with that, there comes expectations, and it’s predicted Prince George, 10, will join the army, just like his father and uncle, according to one royal expert.

Journalist Ashley Pearson appeared in the recently released documentary, The Future of the Monarchy, saying: “I think it is very much a sure thing, that whatever sons, William has, will certainly join the Army.”

She adds: “That has been a royal tradition going back centuries, and something that both Wiliam and Harry loved and seemed to get a lot out of.”

William completed his studies at university and enlisted in the army when he was 24 years old. Harry did not go to university and enlisted in the army at age 20.

In the documentary, Ms Pearson suggests George will follow in his father’s footsteps, but his path won’t be exactly the same.

She says: “One tradition that may not continue, though, is boarding school.”

“William and Harry were sent off at a very young age to Eton. Although, they may send George or their other children to Eton, I doubt very much, it will be at such a young, tender age.”

All three children currently attend Lambrook School.

Princess Kate had been seen touring both Eton and Marlborough College, and it’s being suggested George will attend one of the schools, but a decision has to be announced.

Pearson points out the Princess of Wales did not grow up in a royal household or “a family where children were sent away at age six to boarding school.”

She added: “I think Kate is going to find that royal tradition a very difficult one to follow.”
