Prince Archie reportedly “looks up” to Prince Harry as the pair share a love for the same activity, a children’s expert has said. Earlier this month, pictures were shared online of the young royal, six, attending surfing lessons at a beach not far from Montecito, where the family have lived for the past five years.
It is believed Archie took to the waves along with other children after learning some key surfing skills. Both his parents Meghan Markle, 44, and Prince Harry, 40, were present to watch the prince indulge in his new loved hobby.
While it is believed many children learn to surf in coastal towns in America, one expert believes that Archie taking up this hobby shows how he “looks up” to Harry, who has had surfing lessons himself since relocating to Montecito in 2020.
As reported by GB News, Dr Amanda Gummer, Chair of the Association of Play Industries and Founder of FUNdamentally Children, said that by taking after the same hobby as his father, Archie is showing that he shares key traits with his dad
This includes a sense of adventure and a “love of the outdoors”, the expert says.
Talking to Hello magazine, Dr Gummer revealed: “Children often take an interest in the things their parents love, and this can be a really meaningful way to connect.
“Archie taking up surfing, just like his dad, suggests they share a sense of adventure and a love of the outdoors.”
She continued: “It shows that Archie looks up to Harry and wants to explore the world in a similar way.
“Activities like this can help strengthen their bond and create lasting memories, while also passing on values around health, fun, and appreciation of nature.”
Harry’s daughter Princess Lilibet, four, is not believed to have taken up surfing lessons yet like her brother and father.
