The woman who accused Prince Andrew of sexual abuse is to release a memoir months after her death. Virginia Giuffre’s autobiography ‘Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice’ will be released in the US in October.
The publishing day will come six months after Ms Giuffre died by suicide at her home in Australia, with the book understood to have been finished around a year ago. Ms Giuffre became one of the most well-known survivors of abuse by the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. Her allegations that she was trafficked three times to have sex with Prince Andrew when she was 17 led to the beginning of the end of the Duke of York’s presence in the public eye, culminating in his infamous Newsnight interview in which he denied having known Ms Giuffre or having a sexual relationship with her. Prince Andrew has always denied all the claims made against him and has not been charged with any criminal offences.
A spokesperson for Knopf, which is a division of Penguin Random House, described how the book would detail intimate and disturbing details about her time with Epstein and his powerful associates.
An email contained within a statement circulated by the books publisher includes instructions to author-journalist Amy Wallace, who had been working with Ms Giuffre to produce the book.
It reads: “The content of this book is crucial, as it aims to shed light on the systemic failures that allow the trafficking of vulnerable individuals across borders.
“It is imperative that the truth is understood and that the issues surrounding this topic are addressed, both for the sake of justice and awareness.”
Ms Giuffre added in the email sent on April 1, three weeks before her death: “In the event of my passing, I would like to ensure that NOBODY’S GIRL is still released.
“I believe it has the potential to impact many lives and foster necessary discussions about these grave injustices.”
Ms Giuffre claimed that she had become caught up in Epstein’s trafficking ring in the early 2000s where she alleged that she was exploited by Prince Andrew and other powerful individuals.
Epstein was found dead in a New York City jail cell in 2019 in what investigators described as a suicide.
But many, including Epstein’s former partner and accomplice have cast doubt on the claims, with many alleging that he was murdered in order to ensure his silence.
