An expert claims Prince Andrew’s “pride” means he “doesn’t want to be kicked out” of Royal Lodge by King Charles.
The King is said to want the Duke of York to leave the luxurious 30-room mansion and move to the smaller Frogmore Cottage.
But Andrew signed a 75-year lease with the Crown Estate in 2003. It requires the 64-year-old however to pay for repairs at the property.
And last year Andrew was dealt a blow when his older brother pulled his security funding and annual allowance as the row between the pair rumbled on.
It led to concerns about Andrew’s ability to fund his life at Royal Lodge, where he lives with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
Andrew however is said to have secured private funding that allowed him to continue living at his home.
Now Andrew is poised to “make millions” after teaming up with Dutch company Startupbootcamp, where he is expected to share valuable contacts that he made at his Pitch@Palace project. The project aimed to connect entrepreneurs and investors.
It is thought Andrew will earn money from each deal the Dutch firm strikes, which will help him fund his life at the Grade II listed property.
Royal expert Bronte Coy however believes Andrew and Sarah should consider moving to the four-bedroom Frogmore Cottage, reports Aberdeen Live.
Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive podcast, she said: “It is the case that it’s a 30-room building and they don’t need it. I think it is just a case of pride and he doesn’t want to be kicked out.
“Publicly it would be humiliating for him to have to leave, although I do think it is the time that he should. But I think overall it is a pride thing.”
The Sun Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson added: “Whatever he has done here with Startupbootcamp and earning all this money has given him a stay of execution and he will be staying at Royal Lodge as long as he has the money.”
The arrangement with Startupbootcamp will be the first time Prince Andrew has done any work after he was stripped of his titles by the late Queen Elizabeth II, reports the Mirror.
Andrew also stepped back from the Pitch@Palace scheme after his infamous Newsnight interview where he was quizzed about his friendship with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
A source told The Sun: “He will earn money from each deal SBC secures from his Pitch@Palace work and the windfall will help enable him to hold on to Royal Lodge. It is a way of exploiting the enviable business links he has secured over the years.”
