Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson ‘not going to remarry’ as 'freedom' at stake

A royal expert has put an end to the rumour-mill swirling around Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson remarrying, claiming it would come at the cost of the latter’s “freedom”.

At first glance, it seems feasible with The Daily Beast saying the royal couple didn’t want to divorce in the first place, that they were pressured into it and now that both Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II have passed, they have the freedom to pursue this.

But, according to royal historian Marlene Koenig, “freedom” is the exact reason Sarah wouldn’t agree to this. As she explained in an exclusive interview with Daily Express US: “That would put her back (under the microscope) and being examined. And nobody wants that, she’s quite happy walking the Queen’s corgis.”

She added: “It takes away the freedom she has to do things, to try and make money, and things like that.”

It’s not just that, Koenig points out, Andrew and Sarah have a good arrangement, living together as exes at Royal Lodge, and that “she doesn’t need Big Brother’s approval”.

Indeed, the royal author is adamant that remarrying is not on the cards: “They are not going to remarry.”

The first reason being that Prince Andrew doesn’t go by title His Royal Highness, and, if they were going to remarry, it begs the question: would Sarah use the title?

Secondly, she would then have an official position within the Royal Family, which, according to Koenig, wwould not go down well”.

Plus, “I think they [Sarah and Andrew] are quite happy the way they are. Living in sin, is not looked down upon these days.”

Turning her attention to Andrew, she said: “He won’t ever be reinstated to royal duties. Period. End-stop. And people say, ‘Well, he was seen with the Royal Family.’”

Meanwhile, she explains why it’s not uncommon to see Andrew with King Charles and other member of the Royal Family: “He was going to church. He’s still family. He’s going to be included in some family events. So, he is going to be seen outside walking to church, but he is not going to be restored to his patronages or his military appointments.”
