Princess Beatrice stepped up for King Charles when she attended The King’s Foundation’s Future Textiles exhibition on his behalf, marking her inaugral involvement with the organisation.
The 36-year-old, who is expecting her second child, visited the exhibition, which showcased the Foundation’s commitment to addressing skills gaps within the fashion and textiles industry in the UK.
Beatrice explored the exhibition celebrating a decade of pioneering textile education.
The Princess acted in the interests of the monarchy, meeting with the charity’s Education Director, Jacqueline Farrell, and met with students, alumni and industry partners from the Foundation’s courses.
The engagement also marked Beatrice’s increasingly prominent role within the royal family. The princess, who serves as one of the King’s Counsellors of State, can represent the monarch at Privy Council meetings and sign routine documents when required.
Beatrice tried her own hand at sewing, trying textiles techniques such as embroidery and smocking.
At the end of her visit, she was also gifted a special poppy pin to commemorate Armistice Day, crafted by Sheena Spence, a member of the Sewing Bee at Dumfries House.
The princess did the visit while pregnant, having announced she and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are expecting their second child in spring 2025.
