PR experts in UK ‘won’t go near’ Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for key reason

PR experts have started to respond to claims Meghan Markle is looking for professional help to reboot her image in Britain. One senior executive said experts “won’t go near” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for one key reason.

This comment comes after it has been reported that Meghan is on the lookout for someone in the PR field to help her gain more positive publicity in the UK. Harry and Meghan’s popularity in the UK has been declining for some time, but is thought to have made them want to look at ways to turn it around.

Despite this, one PR expert has suggested this is a gig that “many senior PR people” would turn away from – especially for one key reason.

A senior PR executive has told the Mail: “This is a s*** sandwich that many senior PR people will not be willing to eat. Many will turn it down.”

They added that the couple are often unable to take advice onboard – meaning that their choice of PR experts will be limited.

The expert added: “Representing the couple in the UK is a tantalising thought but they don’t have a reputation for listening to advice. What would be the point?”

Not only to gain positive publicity for herself and Prince Harry, Meghan is also wanting to help the reputation of their self-owned foundation, Archewell.

An insider also told MailOnline that the couple believe that they see an opportunity in Britain now – especially since the King’s cancer diagnosis.

The insider told the publication: “The Sussexes have a popularity problem and can see there is an opportunity to step in to fill a vacuum over here with their own work…”

The expert added: “American stars also often expect their PRs to spend their time shouting at people – that’s not going to appeal either in the UK where things are done rather differently.”

Earlier this month, the Duchess of Sussex virtually opened a new wing of an animal charity in the UK.

Meghan appeared in a video message at the opening – with brand and culture expert Nick Ede stating that her appearance likely surprised people and showed that the UK is still an “important place” to her.

Mr Ede said: “I think that the UK is still a very important place for Meghan to have a presence and to have strong positive PR. She genuinely likes the UK and British people.”

Meghan and Harry have been tipped to visit the UK later this year to mark the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games.

The pair could also be joined by their two children – Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two – who are last thought to have visited the UK in 2022.
