Popular cruise line to bring back iconic adult-only themed cruise in months | Travel News | Travel

TUI’s cruise line has revealed that it is bringing back one of its incredibly popular adults-only parties at sea with an exciting three-night tour of some of Europe’s best hotspots. Marella Cruises’ Electric Sunsets 80s vs 90s voyage will return in April 2027 for its sixth year, allowing passengers to relive the iconic hits of both decades while enjoying a star-studded line-up of performers from the era.

The themed voyage, labelled as the ultimate musical face-off at sea, will kick off on April 28 from Palma, with stops in Valencia and Ibiza before returning to Majorca’s capital on May 1. The headline acts will be announced early next year. With previous names including the likes of Atomic Kitten, Ireland’s B*Witched and Kimberley Wyatt from the Pussycat Dolls, passengers can expect some serious names from both decades taking to the stage.

CEO at Marella Cruises, Chris Hackney, said: “We are excited to be announcing the launch of our themed cruise for 2027. The return of the hotly anticipated ‘Electric Sunsets’ is exciting for our loyal cruise customers and new cruise customers alike.

“With the battle of 80s vs 90s music taking centre stage in this year’s edition, we know through market research and customer feedback, that these eras of music will bring back nostalgia to our cruisers, as well as giving customers a chance to see some top stars perform onboard.”

For those keen to secure a spot as soon as possible, registration is now open. Prices start from £799 per person for the entire experience, including flights, transfers, all meals and drinks onboard, as well as tips and service charges.

For those looking to extend their stay, customers will be able to opt for a limited availability cruise and stay package, from a range of Majorca-based hotels including Alua Soul Mallorca Resort, Astoria Playa Hotel and Hotel Son Matias Beach.

Marella Cruises is part of the TUI Group and is the third largest cruise line in the UK after P&O Cruises and Cunard. There are currently five ships in Marella’s fleet: Marella Discovery, Marella Discovery 2, Marella Explorer, Marella Explorer 2 and the newest ship to the fleet, Marella Voyager, which set sail for the first time in June 2023.

This news comes as the global cruise industry prepares for one of its biggest years yet. In 2026 alone, a wave of brand-new vessels will make their debut across the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Northern Europe and beyond – from intimate ultra-luxury ships with just a hundred-or-so passengers to floating mega-resorts carrying thousands.

According to Travel Market Report, more than 25 new ocean-going ships are set to launch between now and the end of 2027. This includes the Emerald Kaia, which will set sail on her first 11-day cruise through the Mediterranean, Adriatic and Aegean Seas, travelling from Cyprus to Athens. Joining her is Norwegian Luna, which will embark on a 13-day transatlantic crossing from Rome to Miami in March, before commencing her Caribbean routes.
