POLL: Should Archie and Lilibet be allowed to go to Sandringham? | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven’t spent Christmas with the Royal Family since 2018 – five months before they welcomed their now five-year-old son, Prince Archie.

Both Archie and his younger sister, three-year-old Princess Lilibet have spent very little time in the UK. Spending so much time in the US means Archie – who was born in the UK – and Lilibet have little understanding of their British family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have lived in California since 2020, are said to have not yet been invited to spend the festive period with the royals.

Due to this, it is likely that Archie and Lilibet will spend another Christmas in the US – away from the royals.

Recently speaking to OK!, former BBC royal correspondent, Jennie Bond discussed the sadness surrounding Archie and Lilibet being “estranged” from their family in the UK.

She said: “How curious, and sad, it will be for Archie and Lilibet if they grow up knowing they are part of one of the most famous families in the world — and yet they are estranged from almost all of them.

“To know that their grandfather and uncle were both Kings, and they didn’t know them.”

Meghan and Harry spent Archie’s first Christmas in 2019 in Vancouver Island. Since 2020, the couple are thought to have spent the festive period in the US.

Meghan is reportedly adamant that she will not spend time in the UK – although one expert has claimed that Harry could feel “estranged” from his Windsor relatives this year.

Recently speaking to Woman, former royal correspondent Emily Andrews said: “Prince Harry is keen to spend the Christmas holidays in the UK with his wife and children — but Meghan wants to stay in the US.”

She added: “He hasn’t spent Christmas here for six years and he could be forgiven for feeling rather lonely and estranged from his Windsor relatives.”

Although Archie was born in the UK, Lilibet was born in America in 2021 – a year after the family moved to the US.
