Concerns are escalating for a missing mum after her handbag was found in a park near a viaduct in Truro. An urgent manhunt has been initiated by the police for 49 year old Claire Bennett, who disappeared in Cornwall on Monday.
Her last known contact was around 1.30pm, with CCTV recording her final confirmed sighting at 3.24pm as she departed from Truro Train Station. The missing mother, hailing from St Austell, is thought to still be in the Truro vicinity.
Officers sounded the alarm for her wellbeing this morning after she was officially categorised as a high-risk missing person, which comes after the recent vanishing of British tourist Michele Ann Joy Bourda from a Greek beach.
In a heart-wrenching plea, her daughter implored her to return home, stating: “Mum, if you read this please come home. We aren’t mad at you and we all bloody love you! You win at hide and seek,” according to PlymouthLive. “Just even send me a message to tell me you’re OK. We can get through this. I promise. I love you.”
A clue was found
The family disclosed that they had discovered a bag believed to belong to Ms Bennett at the park near the viaduct in Truro. She is described as white, approximately 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build, with blonde hair usually worn loose, reports the Mirror.
Police have issued an urgent appeal to locate Ms Bennett after growing increasingly worried for her wellbeing this morning. It is believed that she may still be in the Truro area.
Devon and Cornwall Police expressed their concern in a statement: “We continue to be concerned for the welfare of a missing woman who may be in the Truro area, and we have released images of her last known sighting.
