Scotland Yard has named two teenagers detectives want to speak to after the murder of a 14-year-old boy in south east London.
Detectives investigating the killing of Kelyan Bokassa on a bus in Woolwich, want to speak to Colin Chabikwa, 15, and Mosawar Zazi, 16, according to the Metropolitan Police.
In a statement, Det Ch Insp Sarah Lee said: “Firstly, my thoughts are with the family and friends of Kelyan.
“I know his death has deeply affected many in the community and I would like to thank people in Woolwich for the support they have shown.
“Officers have been undertaking increased weapons searches, reassurance patrols and house-to-house enquiries. I know these can be disruptive however it has been vital, and your patience is appreciated.
“Our team of detectives is working around the clock to identify those responsible for Kelyan’s murder and appeal for your help to locate Chabikwa and Zazi.”
She urged anyone with information about their whereabouts to contact the police immediately by calling 999, but cautioned the public not to approach them.
Aspiring rapper Kelyan was fatally injured on a route 472 bus in Woolwich Church Street, near the Woolwich Ferry, just before 2.30pm on Tuesday, January 7
Police implemented orders giving them greater powers to stop and search and demand the removal of disguises, including face coverings, because of concerns there could be more violence in the wake of Kelyan’s death.
Kelyan’s heartbroken mum said her son had been groomed by gangs after running away from care and living on the streets.
Mary Bokassa told MailOnline: “My son and others were taken advantage by gangs. They were groomed.”
The killing sparked a flurry of online speculation, including references to another teen who met a violent death in the same part of London nearly four months ago.
Daejaun Campbell, 15, was stabbed to death in Eglinton Road, Woolwich, on September 22 last year, less than a mile-and-a-half away from where Kelyan died.
Scotland Yard has said no links have been established between the two and the investigation was at an early stage.
About 40 mourners, including friends of the victim, gathered at a vigil held last week at St Mary Magdalene Church, which overlooks the bus stop where Kelyan died.
Anti-knife campaigner Faron Paul joined the service and called for more support for those affected by violence.
Police have urged anyone with information which could assist the investigation into Kelyan’s death to come forward.
Anyone with information can call police on 101 with the reference 3795/07JAN25 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online.
Some 10 teenagers were killed in London last year, nine of whom were the victims of stabbings. One died in a shooting, according to data compiled by the Press Association news agency.
