The perfect poached egg can turn a simple breakfast into something really special, but getting it just right is a skill that not everyone can easily master.

Whether you cook your egg in a pan with a touch of vinegar, wrap it in a clingfilm pouch or simmer in a silicone cup, there are many ways to crack on with poaching an egg.

But luckily for egg fans, one life hack account on TikTok could have found the quickest and easiest way yet.

On their page, @LifeHacks shared a video that simply showed how to achieve poached egg perfection using the microwave in just 60 seconds.

Armed with just an egg, a glass and some water, this method could be a game changer for anyone who doesn’t want to wait for their breakfast.

Opening with the statement “OMG!! Wish I knew this sooner,” the video is an easy to follow demonstration.

They start by cracking the egg into a glass before adding enough water to cover the egg, filling the glass to just about half way.

They then set the timer on the microwave for one minute, before carefully removing the finished product wearing heatproof gloves.

Once scooped out of the glass using a serving spoon, the egg looks perfectly poached and just slightly runny on the inside.

Fans of the 60 second cooking hack took to the comments to share their own thoughts on the microwave method.

One person suggested reducing the cooking time to 50 seconds to produce a runnier yolk.

A second TikTok fan who had already tried the method wrote: “I made poached eggs like this for breakfast with toast was yum.”

Another added: “Fabulous idea when I’m at work with no way to scramble an egg.”

Some followers, however, were concerned about using glass in the microwave, so be sure to use a microwave safe container to cook your perfect poached eggs.
