Pirates of the Caribbean star completely unrecognisable 22 years later

One Pirates of the Caribbean icon is completely unrecognisable 22 years after the first Disney film debuted. Jack Davenport starred as Royal Navy officer James Norrington in the hit films, and was known for sporting his curly white wig and smart uniform – and his relentless pursuit of Johnny Depp’s character Captain Jack Sparrow across the high seas.

In the end, he realised not all pirates were bad and changed sides, last appearing in the film At World’s End when he was killed by Davy Jones aboard the Flying Dutchman. In total, he appeared in three Pirates films – Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End. Now, however, actor Jack looks completely different to his Royal Navy days. Ditching his tightly curled wig, he now sports shorter brown hair peppered with grey, and tends to opt for dapper suits on outings with his wife Michelle Gomez.

Jack, now 52, tied the knot with Michelle back in 2000, three years before his first Pirates film, and they share one child together, a son. The English actor became a naturalised American citizen alongside his wife in 2023.

Since his Disney days, he’s also starred in everything from Kingsman: The Secret Service to The Morning Show alongside Jennifer Aniston.

It comes as his former co-star Johnny Depp looked completely unrecognisable in a silver fox transformation for his new movie Day Drinker. The 61-year-old sported grey hair tied back in a ponytail and rocked a navy suit with a pale blue shirt underneath.

Johnny also embraced a full grey beard for the film, in which he stars alongside Penélope Cruz. Fans have gone wild for the first stills released from the movie, with one gushing: “He looks better as a silver fox than any other style I’ve seen so far. This is really a game changer.”

Another said: “Did not realise that was Johnny Depp until I read the caption!” While a third commented: “The way I gasped and thought this was AI! You look so good, Captain.”
