Rumours that Phil Collins was receiving hospice care have been dispelled following a hospital visit for the drummer.
A spokesperson for the Genesis legend confirmed that Collins is presently in hospital for knee surgery, and is not facing death.
The rapidly-spreading rumour that Collins was in hospice care stunned fans just days earlier, causing them to fear the prospect of losing Collins.
Earlier this year, Collins did acknowledge he was in poor health.
Whilst speaking to MOJO, he revealed he no longer has the appetite to create new music as he’s been “very sick”, reports the Mirror US.
He said, “”I keep thinking I should go downstairs to the studio and see what happens. But I’m not hungry for it anymore.
The thing is, I’ve been sick. I mean very sick.”
“It’s still kind of sinking in a bit,” the Grammy winner admitted.
“I’ve spent all my life playing drums. To suddenly not be able to do that is a shock.”
The vocalist delivered his final performance with Genesis in 2022 due to his mobility problems worsening steadily following a spinal injury in 2007 that left him with severe nerve damage.
He emphasised his declining physical health in the 2024 documentary Phil Collins: Drummer First, stating, “The drumming has taken its toll on my hands and legs.”
The star is best recognised for his exceptional drumming and brilliant vocals whilst working with the British rock band.
He is also cherished by younger generations for his contribution to the Tarzan film, particularly for his Oscar-winning song You’ll Be In My Heart.
