A war film that is available to rent and buy on Amazon Prime has been hailed as the “perfect masterpiece,” with viewers praising the film as a “powerful” and a “realistic portrayal” of The Battle of Stalingrad during World War 2. The film titled Stalingrad was released in 1993, and directed by Joseph Vilsmaier.
Those who have watched the film have vouched for its greatness, with many agreeing that it is one of the best war films produced, credit to the accuracy and honesty the film showcases. Others were also pleased it did not “glorify the war”.
Amongst the praise, there was one viewer who was particularly impressed with the film, rating it 10 out of 10 and comparing it to the likes of other popular war films.

Saving Private Ryan, another popular film based on World War 2, is inspired by the story of the Niland brothers who served in the war. However, the viewer believes that it “just doesn’t bring the horror of war down to the common foot solider as accurately as Stalingrad”.
Another viewer also made a comparison between the two films. They wrote: “This was made before Private Ryan but is possibly even harder-hitting in places,” after describing it as a “powerful” testament “to the suffering of the ordinary soldier on the Eastern Front in the Second World War”.
