People just realising ‘in their 30s’ you can make potatoes this way

If you’ve had a long, hard day at work, the last thing you want to do is to cook a whole meal from scratch and stand in the kitchen longer than necessary, so you’ll want to whip something up fast.

Because of this, often, potatoes will be on the menu. Whether you prefer them as microwavable jackets, whack chips in the air fryer, or you prefer whipping up some soft and creamy mash, there are so many different ways to enjoy them.

However, many people have shared they’ve got to their 30s and had no idea that you could cook potatoes in this way.

If you prefer potato waffles, but you’re sick of putting them in the oven and waiting for them for what feels like forever when you’re incredibly hungry, did you know there’s another method to cook them – and it’s not the air fryer?

Amy Sheppard Food posted on social media, sharing: “Discovering that you can cook potato waffles in the toaster, might just be my favourite kitchen hack EVER.”

She shared a recipe to make salt and pepper waffle fries, and they looked absolutely delicious. However, people were more flabbergasted by the fact you can put these waffles into the toaster and they cook nicely.

Amy showed she put two waffles in each portion of the toaster, easily fitting eight at once to cook evenly. If they’re fully covered by the toaster you have, you won’t even need to pop them in again.

When you pop them in the toaster as well, you can control which colour you want them to go more easily. Sometimes, you can pop them in the oven, decide you want them slightly more crispy, and before you know it, you’re contending with a burnt mess.

Amy said potato waffles are “up there” with her “favourite way” to eat potatoes.

After adding onions, pepper, spring onions, and seasonings to the pan, she said they were “packed with flavour, a little bit spicy, a little bit salty”. She shared that it was the “most Friday night-ish dinner” of all.

In the comments, people were amazed that you could put potato waffles in the toaster, saying they were going to “try it immediately”.

One woman wrote: “I’m 31 years old and I had no idea that you could put potato waffles in the toaster.”

Another said: “One of my friends laughed at me for putting waffles in the toaster and I told her you could!”

“I’ve been doing this for 25 years – this isn’t your hack,” someone pointed out.

A Facebook user shared: “This was a staple diet for me as a student. I would dunk them into tomato soup and add a lush sprinkle of cheese and it was heaven.”
